RIYADH: During the past few years the Kingdom suffered greatly from several terrorism attacks waged by Daesh and Al-Qaeda, and the criminal schemes that targeted the country and people which aimed to tear apart its unity, security and stability.

But the Kingdom, its leadership and people, with all components, its official and civil bodies stood united against this extremist ideology and managed successfully to tackle and thwart many of their criminal schemes, some of which which were in the final stages of implementation, and as a result saved the lives of many innocent people.

Saudi citizens across the country will always remember with pride and honor, and still recall with appreciation the martyrdom of our sons who were killed on the battlefields defending our religion, country and people, and those innocent souls who died during these criminal and terrorist attacks that did not spare children or adults and were designed to kill a large number of innocents lives, including residents who came to seek work and a safe haven here in the country.

The whole world can honestly certify and attest to the huge security capabilities of the Kingdom and its wise policies to stand firmly in the face of this evil and counter it.

The entire international community appreciated, was impressed and has admired the successful policies to address and tackle this evil on many intellectual and security levels. It has admired the advice and counseling in addition to the enacted regulations and policies whose efforts bore fruit by drying up the financial and intellectual resources that feed and support these terrorist organizations and groups. A firm grip on these elements resulted in the overthrow of many terrorist cells, and the arrest of its members in pre-emptive strikes before they could carry out their criminal schemes.

The Saudi Ministry of Interior has provided all the necessary counseling and correction programs for those persons arrested, to try and rectify their deviant thoughts; they made all efforts possible in this regard on intellectual, religious, security and psychological levels to bring them back to the correct path, and also offered all human and social support for them and for their families. And stemming the belief that security measures alone are not enough to fight terrorism, the Kingdom was keen on taking extra precautionary measures to boost the immunity of society against such deviant thoughts.

In its stead, the Kingdom sought to spread concepts of tolerance and moderation, by establishing the Prince Mohammed bin Naif for Counseling and Care, which is considered one of the most important treatment and prevent tools to fight extremism and terrorism. The activities and efforts of the center succeeded in almost 90 percent of cases in fighting extremist thoughts; about 2,600 people have benefited from it.

The only demand of Saudi society and the community that remain today is the enforcement of the law on the killers so that security and justice prevail to deter assailants who shed the blood of innocent people.

The enforcement of the law of God on the criminals is a message in itself directed to the criminals that punishment will be waiting for them.

The collective memory of the people and community still suffers from the repercussions of the radical ideas of the terrorists who carry blood on their hands, the blood of innocent people and children that was shed unjustly, and on their shoulders lies the burden of widowed women who lost husbands and the providers for their children. It is time that they received their punishment without mercy.

This step comes after a long string of procedures and measures taken after arresting them and referring them to the investigation and prosecution bodies. Their cases were presented to the specialized courts, which heard their allegations and defense. All other regulatory procedures against them were completed including presenting undisputed evidence of their crimes in front of the criminal, appeals and supreme courts of the Kingdom.

The efforts finally resulted in issuing punishment and death verdicts on these killers and criminals.
