RIYADH: Islamic Affairs, Endowment, Call and Guidance Deputy Minister Tawfiq Abdulaziz Al-Sudairi said that women’s advocacy efforts have helped the ministry to achieve its strategic goals.
“We are capitalizing on the efforts and awareness of female advocates in the different cities across the Kingdom regarding the causes that we promote,” Dr. Al-Sudairi said, encouraging more female volunteers to join the worthy cause.
He added that most of the advocacy work is based on the collaborative work of women “who have selflessly given something of their time and effort to pursue advocacy.”
He said, however, that aside from women, there are other volunteers who underpin the ministry’s programs and projects, including academics as well as students “who give something of themselves for a worthy cause.”
“The ministry also promotes its causes by implementing programs and holding dialogue and debate sessions with the community, or by publishing scientific research in publications or on networking sites about all of the activities of the ministry,” he said.
The ministry, he said, has also tapped into the knowledge of other entities regarding management of general scientific research and intellectual awareness in the various branches of the ministry across the Kingdom.
He also stressed the role of scholars and preachers in the fight against extremism in all its forms, adding that they have scientific ammunition to counter the threats that they pose to Saudi societies: “The scholars and the preachers have a big role to play, especially in the campaign against terrorism which has become a scourge upon our Kingdom’s youth.”
