JEDDAH: Alfa Moe Yasser team ended its chase for Team of the Week award with an outstanding performance during the eighth session in the the OSN-FTBJ 50th Open Conference bowling tournament at the Bowling City here.

Alfa Moe was practically without a challenge on the way to carding the top tally of 44 points with Al Murjana a distant second on the way with 39 points.

Three points further back in third position was MC Hammer which pooled 36 points in a tie with Sky Freight-OSN.

Masaken tallied 34 points followed by BCT-Lutong Pinoy 31, Red Dragons 25 and Habagat 21.

Xtreme-Taurus crashed back to earth after hitting the first perfect double of the tournament as it could only muster 19 points in 9th position, just in front of the last three teams namely D’ Barkads, Bank AlJazira Fawri and GBI-TBBGI which compiled 12, 9 and 6 points respectively.

Nonie Yap completed an Alfa Moe double when he rolled the high series of 699 on lines of 212, 275 and 212 to become the Bowler of the Week.

With Yap at the helm, Alfa Moe topped the second game and overall output while going not lower than third in the first and last games. Solid backing to Yap was provided by the trio of Obie Ycasas, Cesar Monares and Rally Zamora who shot 619, 570 and 556 in that order.

Danny Bautista and Benji Cils played Alfa’s three remaining games on 233-197 and 202.

Murjana, trying to remain in the upper half of the team standings, had Rey Beltran at the top of the scoring ladder on 605 followed by Archie Santos 574 and August Tendinero 568. The other scorers were Ruel Santoc 205-189, Joey Calapatia 232-208 and Nap Patayan 188-212.

Over at MC Hammer, the duo of Zaldy Bacero and Rene Punzalan crossed 600 on 631 and 625, while Paolo Allego made 587, Melvin Lising 567, Dylan Ilagan 171-177 and Frank Afurong 157.

Three-time champion Sky Freight of Emy de Guzman drew 606, 601 and 599 from Ryan Conde, Oca Bernabe and Goying Salazar, as it quietly took over the lead from BCT-Lutong Pinoy. Bonnie Garcia was the fourth player to complete a series at 537 that went with the 172-201 by Pancho Cuevas and 208 by Nanding Siasoco.

Leading the way at Masaken were Jimmy Mandingiado 634, Jojie Manalansan 574 and Jay Bengco 520.
