JEDDAH: Cristal-Rock n Roll struck for a repeat as Team of the Week with a fine performance during the 14th session in the FTBJ-ICBL 36th Conference bowling tournament at the Bowling City here.
Cristal took advantage of fluctuating fortunes that befell its rivals to post the top tally of 43 points. D’ Barkads settled for second-best on 40 points, their bid for honors bamboozled by a poor second game (9th place, 5 points) after a second-place points of 12 in the first game.
Sadafco compiled 37.5 points in third place on the day followed by first game winner JP Gilas 2 and Sagmit Dental Clinic, which tied on 34 points.
Saudia Ice Cream tallied 33 points in front of previous week honoree Pinslashers 30.5, while Zekiesha had 28, Patsamba 26 and Ekis Reload 22.
Defending champion Hidada Ltd., Sky Freight-OSN and United Doctors were the last three teams to check in on 19, 13 and 4 points in that order.
The week’s honors were spread out with Saudia Ice Cream’s Marie Gumpal and Sagmit Dental Clinic’s Philip Raymundo clinching the ladies and men’s Bowler of the Week awards on 638 and 721 respectively.
Cristal, whose participation in this five-man team Friday afternoon league event is supported by Mohammed Al-Attas, manager General Services, separated itself from the pack by winning the second game and overall output.
Mohd. Al Amri led the Cristal onslaught on 673 with the ladies duo of Eloisa Fernandez and Aileen Miralbuna contributing full games of 591 and 569. Ruben Griño added 234-184, Rene Ocampo had 200-201 and Jojie Manalansan returned 205 for Cristal, which earned its first award during the fourth week.
At D’ Barkads Ed Sardiña and Thess Grandia shot the leading scores of 630 and 602. Rally Zamora came through with 573 and Cheryl Tibay 568 as the other players to complete three-game series. Leo Edejer carded 239-213 and Bing Amolo added 201.
Sadafco had Charrie Guzman at the top of the scoring ladder on 604 followed by Benz Espinosa 597 and Malou Nidoy 522. Sharing two games were Joel Nidoy 243-226, Yasser Hokbi 234-208 and Pancho Cuevas 212-193.
The trio of Jeanette Cerbito, Rene Punzalan and Marlon Bernabe carried most of the load at JP Gilas with rounds of 620, 608 and 557 to go with the 539 by Lourdes Punzalan, 228-236 by Paolo Allego and 199 by Jun De Dios.
Backing up Raymundo at SDC were Ester Santoc 578, Evelyn Santoc, Ding dela Rosa 167-170, Ruel Santoc 193-191 and Ric Reformado 234-202.
