JEDDAH: Cyclone needed the tiebreak to earn its first Team of the Week award from Guardians Thunder in a thrilling battle for honors during the 11th week in the OFBC Friday Morning League 5+1 Season 4 at the Ice Land Bowling Center here.

Shutting out their opponents, Cyclone and Guardians ended the session tied on 25.5 points and the tie persisted to the total pinfalls with handicap at 2,607.

Fortunately for Cyclone, this Bash Langa-captained team prevailed when the second tiebreaker, total pinfalls scratch, was applied 2,298 to 2,175.

Cyclone zeroed Troopers 20-0 with Guardians posting the same result in the match with Selections whose shutout defeat after back-to-back Team of the Week victories underscored the unpredictability of the tournament.

In the individual race for honors, Regino Mendoza of Taurus and Thea Busico of Selections were the men’s Bowler of the Week and ladies Bowler of the Week after shooting highs of 610 and 547 respectively.

The week also witnessed the long awaited uniform presentation by major sponsor Zikato Construction Co. through Operations Manager Albert Zuniga.

League leader Taurus brought down Krau Thai Restaurant 16-4 on total pinfalls of 2,721-2,643 and rank points of 8 and 7, while Zikato Strikers whipped D’ Luf’s Strikers 16-4 (2,525-2,090 4-3) in the other matches.

Thong Langa and Gloria Papa were at the forefront of the Cyclone charge on 549 and 526 with Tito Cruz and Fatima Jintarat backing up the leading duo on 524 and 484. Bash shot two games of 175-145 while Salic Mudac added 168.

Guardians got solid numbers from the trio of Ross Isabiniano 533, Marlyn Mangunay 531 and skipper Ric Tibayan 514. Hyeth Achai was the other player to roll full games on 479. Archie Alcantara added 180-176 and Arnold Banayat had 146.

In addition to Mendoza Taurus got a lift from Olie Jacinto 555, Hadi Pacheco 502 and Fedelyn Busstinera 488. The other scorers were Jun Pamintuan 180-149 and Gil Catral 167.

For Zikato, team captain Toto Lim led from the front on 539, the same score by Arman Gamboa. Benj Espinosa and Vangie Lim made 504 and 432, while Cesar Sacramed had 173-149 and Jerry Carredo 147.
