JEDDAH: League leader Ekis Reload pulled away big time from the chasing pack following its third straight Team of the Week triumph during the 12th session in the FTBJ-ICBL 36th Conference bowling tournament at the Bowling City here.

The 12th week race for points was like a mirror image of the previous week with Ekis pouring on the heat late to finish the way it did the last two weeks — on top with 44 points.

Cristal-Rock n Roll on 41 led the three teams that followed separated by a point of each other, with Pinslashers on 40 and Sagmit Dental Clinic on 39.

Saudia Ice Cream was a further three points adrift on 36 points while defending champion Hidada Ltd. on 32 was the the third team to cross 30 points in this five-man team Friday afternoon league event.

D’ Barkads tallied 28 points in a tie with Zekisha. Sadafco came through with 22 points, Sky Freight-OSN managed 20 points while JP Gilas 2 and Patsamba tied on 15 points. Rookie team United Doctors could only muster 4 points on the day.

Cristal swept the individual honors courtesy of Eloisa Fernandez and Jojie Manalansan, who clinched the ladies and men’s Bowler of the Week awards on 715 and 716 respectively. For Eloisa, it was her second straight, a feat she shares with Matet Cavite of Pinslashers who was the back-to-back winner during the 7th and 8th weeks.

After a slow start at 6th in the first game for 8 points, Ekis accelerated to go fourth-first-first in the last two games and overall output. It now has four team awards overall.

Zaldy Bacero and Malu Gimie were the leading scorers for Ernie Geslani’s Ekis squad on 655 and 615. Alma Bacero was the other player to do full games at 599. With two games each were Emil Payongayong 212-206, Faisal Relativo 236-246 and George Mangaliman 222-201.

Cristal fell short despite solid plays from Eloisa and Manalansan, its chance of a Team of the Week repeat hurt by a poor seventh-place for 7 points finish. Aileen Miralbuna was the third player on Cristal team to go the distance on 557 that went with the 213-185 by Mohd. Al Amri, 154-194 by Jay Bengco and 173-179 by Rene Ocampo.

Pinslashers got a boost from the quartet of Cavite, Rommel Cagampang, Roger Daquioag and May Lourdes who rolled 680, 676, 642 and 603.

Sagmit Dental had Philip Raymundo at the top of scoring ladder on 671 followed by the Santocs, Ruel 620, Ester 610 and Evelyn 562. Ric Reformado added 218-216 and Ding dela Rosa 215.
