It was Sky Freight-TFC’s turn to sizzle and how.

Playing exceptionally well as a team, Sky Freight-TFC scored a near-perfect 47 points on the way to a breakthrough Team of the Week title during the 5th session in the FTBJ-ICBL 31st Conference bowling tournament at Jeddah Lanes here.

Babes Tiongson, as if on cue, made the day extra special for Emy De Guzman’s team when she clinched the ladies Bowler of the Week accolade with a series of 627.

No one came close to the singularly brilliant display by Sky Freight with league leader Nasser Al Hajri a distant second on the day with 35.5 points. Hidada Ltd. pooled 31.5 points followed by Oriana Akiera Sato 30, D’ Barkads 29 and Jem Strikers 26.5.

Kulisap ni Moe tallied 24.5 with Lance & Thirdy and Tarus RDLR tied on 23. Qatar Airways, struggling to find its form, could only muster 18 points, while Avengers and Pin Slashers brought up the rear on 14 and 10. Hidada’s Amro Almri, who produced the tournament’s first perfect 300 on the second week, captured his second men’s Bowler of the Week award after shooting the high series of 682 on lines of 181, 266 and 235.

Sky Freight, which moved up a notch to third place in the team standings, canceled out the previous high total of 44.50 set by D’ Barkads the previous week and its score would have been perfect had Oriana not intervened when it grabbed the second game from the eventual Team of the Week.

Still team manager De Guzman couldn’t have been happier. Goying Salazar fired 646 to complement Tiongson’s effort. Ellen Bernabe contributed the other three-game series at 576 with husband Oca Bernabe carding valuable games of 197-191.

Rene Santiago was likewise at the top of his game with 212-198 and De Guzman had fun out on the lanes with 186-191.

The trio of Ester Jalata, Ladio Gonzales and Zaldy Bacero led Nasser bowlers on 595, 586 and 581.

Merlen Pamintuan tossed in 584, while Randy Mata and Cesar Monares had 198-204 and 179 to round out the scoring.

Over at Hidada Rene Martinez supported Al-Amri by compiling 600 to go with a pair of 565s by Jun Palacios and Pinky Acato and 501 by Puri Parena.

Ed Labuac owned the day’s second best score of 666 to be at the helm of Oriana, which also netted 540 and 533 from Margie Villasanta and Matet Cavite as well as 201-192 from Khalid Tailyoni, 174-203 from Sulaiman and 173-171 from Alex Flora.

The others to reach the 600 series were Lance’s Ric Reformado 627, Jem’s Jess Pineda 618 and the Taurus duo of Raul delos Reyes 642 and Nap Patayan 610.
