Powerhouse Guardians (Diablo) got the better of equally talented Absar team 108-104 in a high-scoring game during the second week of action in the 2nd Maskan Arabia Invitational basketball tournament last Thursday at the Maskan Arabia Labor Camp court on the outskirts of Riyadh.

Las Pinas set a scoring record in the young tournament, compiling a mind-boggling 50 points to lead the debuting Guardians to victory. N. Minas contributed 38 points, R.Ellazar had 20 for Guardians.

Five players, led by De Guzman with 26, scored double figures for Absar. Villacorta finished on 23 points, Sembrana had 15, while Camingwet and Bulaong each had 10 points.

Citisape notched up its second straight victory, beating Samama 69-67 as it drew 16 points from Marlon

Sadaba, 14 from Barion and 12 from M. Sadaba. Sama’s defeat came after an opening day 86-84 triumph over Yamama the previous week for a 1-1 card.

S. Gilas tripped Nesma 57-54 in the first game for both teams. Rico Ventura topscored for Nesma with 20 points with Jun Miral and Elden Gardonez hitting 16 apiece.

The week also saw Al Hammadi Hospital bring down Cely’s Magic Cream 79-75.

Elsewhere, host team Maskan Arabia stuck to its game plan to crush Inaya 92-66. In a balanced offense Maskan drew 17 points from Salasain, 12 each from Darus and Hajibin, 9 from R. Usop and 7 apiece form Abalorio and C. Vestal.

This year’s Organizing Committee is headed by Al Gafees as the tournament chairman.
