It’s been held by some of the most legendary names in football, and now fans of the beautiful game in Jeddah had the chance to get their picture taken with none other than the UEFA Champions League (UCL) trophy.

Brought to Saudi Arabia by HTC, the UEFA Champions League trophy was in Jeddah’s Red Sea Mall on Tuesday.

YouTube celebrity Ammar Ramadan hosted the event, which included exciting games and more around the star attraction – the Cup itself. Football fans got to see the awesome trophy, to participate in fun games and take home UCL branded merchandise.

Visitors to the stand also had the chance to experience the new HTC One smartphone family, including the HTC One, HTC One Dual SIM, HTC One mini and HTC One max, as well as the HTC Desire 500 and HTC Desire 600 Dual SIM.

“This was an event not to be missed by football fans – the chance to see the UEFA Champion’s League trophy right here in KSA is an incredible opportunity for anyone who loves football,” said Mohammed Kais Zribi, regional director for HTC Middle East and North Africa. “HTC is committed to creating immersive experiences for our fans, though our innovative smartphones and more.”

Neeraj Seth, senior Brand Communications Manager, HTC MEA, said, “Football is a universal language, understood by people across the world. Our partnership with UEFA is one that brings two engaging brands together, creating a unique collaboration that brings our fans even closer to the game, where they can capture the moment through our cutting edge smartphones.”

The current UEFA Champions League trophy, known as the European Champion Clubs’ Cup, was introduced in 2006 and is the fifth version of its design. Its predecessors are held by those clubs who have won the UEFA Champions League either five times overall, or for three consecutive years. Currently held by Bayern Munich (who’ve won it twice before, in 1976 and 2001), the Cup is one of football’s most sought-after trophies.
