JEDDAH: The semifinal matches went according to form with top seeds ICD (Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector) and KAUST (King Abdullah University Science and Technology) having little trouble disposing of opponents to set up a final clash in the the ICD 3rd Annual Football Tournament at Greenlawns ground on Kilo 5 near Jeddah.

ICD scored all goals in the first half in the 4-0 drubbing of Ewaan in the first semifinal Wednesday.

Abdulhaki Korbayram tallied the first goal for host team ICD.

KAUST surrendered just one goal while hitting for six to eliminate Anfaal Capital 6-1 in the second semifinal with Rodrigo Lopez scoring the KAUST icebreaker in the first half.

ICD and KAUST are both unbeaten after four matches, and Sunday’s final between them offers a potentially explosive battle.

After the group stage and semifinal matches, ICD has logged a 24-6 goals for and goals against while KAUST toted 20-2.

On its way to the semis, ICD defeated ICIEC (Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit) 7-1 on opening day April 14 before taking down Islamic Relief 9-2 and Anfaal Capital 4-2 last Wednesday.

KAUST’s victories were against IRTI (Islamic Research and Training Institute) 7-0, Ewaan 4-0 and IDB (Islamic Development Bank) on the final day of eliminations Thursday last week.
