JEDDAH: JP Singco denied Sagmit Dental Clinic a potential repeat as Team of the Week while breaking through with its own honors during a thriling race that marked the seventh session in the FTBJ-ICBL 37th Conference bowling tournament at the Bowling City here.
When the dust settled, Singco toted total pinfalls of 3, 696 to beat by a pin SDC which returned total pinfalls of 3, 695 for second place on the day.
Thus Singco became the seventh different team to hold the coveted award altough it had to endure an excruciating battle against Sagmit.
Pin Slashers did well to retain the lead after carding 3, 689 pinfalls with Lucky Me on 3, 621, Sadafco 3, 586, and defending champion Ekis Reload 3, 579.
Jeanete Cerbito earned herself a ladies Bowler of the Week award on 692 to complete a JP Singco double while at the same time leading her team’s charge that saw the trio of Paolo Allego, Randy Mata and Nezar Al Hamwi hit 634, 620 and 609 in that order. Michelle Mata added 586 and Rene Punzalan 555 to round out the Singco scoring.
Sagmit might have missed a repeat but it owned the two high series scores courtesy of men’s Bowler of the Week Ric Reformado 707 and Mohd. Sulaiman 706. Evelyn Santoc narrowly missed 600 on 597 to go with the 577 by Ding dela Rosa, 563 by Ruel Satoc and 545 by Ester Santoc.
At Pin Slashers the quartet of Rommel Agbayani 669, May Lourdes 659, Rom Cagampang 623 and Roger Daquiaog 601 bore the brunt of the scoring with Matet Cavite on 590 and Daryl Loquias on 547.
Melvin Lising was the main man at Lucky with his solid 692 while Med Ramos and skipper Igna Salgado crossing 600 on 633 and 606. The other scorers were Gerry Mandanas 597, Marie Gumpal 559 and Luz Pagaran 534.
For Sadafco Danny Bautista and Yasser Hokbi stood out with rounds of 685 and 631 while Pancho Cuevas had 597, Grace Funtillon 570, Charrie Guzman 562 and Frank Afurong 541.
Leading the defending champions were the Bacero couple Alma and Zaldy on 666 and 638 respectively.
