JEDDAH: Lahore Badshah scored a thrilling nine-run win over KAIA to lift the Jotun Cup, organized by the Jeddah Cricket Association.
The Badshah’s were all out for 172 in the stipulated overs. Thanks to a superb spell by Abdul Samad who bagged 3 for 27.
However the winner fought back through some tight bowling by Waqas who responded with 3 for 21 and managed to restrict KAIA to 163 for 8 after 20 overs.
For Lahore Badshah Shahzad top-scored with with a stylish 58 runs. Saghir (35), Osman Ali Niaz (33) and Malik Aijaz (25) Zabak Amin 2 for 40, Majed 2 for 28 and a wicket each for Javed and Ahsan.
In response KAIA started well with Javed (45), Zabak Amin (30) and Waqas Hussain (35) in full flow but some accurate bowling from Waqas (3 for 21), Owais (3 for 25) and Afzal (2 for 18) strangled the lower order.
Muzakkir Bukhari, brand manager of Jotun, was the chief guest and congratulated the finalists for the exciting encounter. He thanked JCA for giving Jotun an opportunity to support the cricketing community and assured JCA of Jotun management’s continuous support.
Muzakkir Bukhari handed over the Jotun Cup to Lahore Badshah and runner-up trophy to KAIA.
