As city golfers welcome the increasingly pleasant weather Dirab Golf & Country Club stages the Lufthansa Open Golf Tournament 2014 on Friday.

A full field of 120 players is expected to tee it up for the 8 a.m. shotgun start in the 18-hole individual stroke play competition in three divisions for men and one division for ladies.

This marks the first time the German airline company agreed to be a title sponsor of a tournament at Dirab and it is sparing no effort to make the event a big one.

Lufthansa is putting up as major prizes two economy class air tickets to Europe for the overall Best Gross and overall Best Net winners. This is on top of a special hole-in-one prize on No. 11 of two business class tickets to North America worth SR50,000.

Also, all players will each receive goody bag containing golf polo shirt, cap, a sleeve of balls and towel upon registration on Friday.
