JEDDAH: The heat is on as eliminations in the OFBL Season 8 — Evening Division entered the eighth week at the Olympic Saudi Champions Academy indoor basketball court on Television Street on the outskirts of Jeddah.

To kick off the week’s proceedings, Halwani Team escaped with a thrilling 92-91 victory over Rabea Tea.

In contrast P. S. I. Team had little trouble as it romped past DAC-Panda by 21 points 78-57. Panda went down to a fifth straight loss.

In the 3rd Game, LeMall Alshaya took advantage of the shorthanded Al Jedani Team, which dressed only seven players for the match, as it dominated in another lopsided result, 81-59. Erwin Carpena’s Alshaya improved to 2-1 in the team standings while handing Jedani its fourth defeat against a single win.

In the nightcap, FedEx Solid Team controlled the game from the get-go using a 8-0 run in the first quarter en route to a 98-57 demolition of Bahra Cable.

Bahra was not able to recover as it fell victim to the running game and trapping defense of Fedex, which leads its divison with a perfect 4-0 record.

Meanwhile, the Season 8 Friday Morning Division best-of-three championship series in Division 2 ended with Solid North as the champion.

Led by the veteran Vizcayno, Solid North defeated Bernard Dualat’s Yummy Yummy Restaurant 97-83.

Solid North dominated the game from start to finish.

To segue this successful Morning Division tournament, according to OFBL Commissioner Rocky Gil, is the Season 9 which opens next Friday

Two division championships will be at stake namely the 5-11 and below and the no height limit. Registration and reservation are still ongoing.
