BOSTON: Roberto Luongo made 34 saves, and Jussi Jokinen and Vincent Trocheck each scored a goal and added an assist to lift the Florida Panthers into first place in the Atlantic Division with a 4-1 win over the Boston Bruins on Thursday.

Reilly Smith and Jonathan Huberdeau also scored for Florida, which passed idle Tampa Bay in the standings and won for the first time in 10 visits to Boston.

Ryan Spooner scored in the first period for Boston, which lost its fifth straight following a seven-game unbeaten streak. The Bruins’ lead over fourth place Detroit also shrank to one point after the Red Wings beat Montreal.

Trocheck scored a short-handed goal to put Florida ahead 2-1 after wristing a shot past Tuukka Rask with 1:14 remaining in the second period.

Patrice Bergeron thought he had tied the game just over eight minutes into the third when it appeared the puck went into the corner of the net. But after a lengthy review by the officials, the goal was disallowed.

Jokinen scored an insurance goal moments after the Bruins had killed a penalty for too many men on the ice to put Florida ahead 3-1 with 9:04 remaining. Huberdeau capped the scoring with an empty-net goal with 21 seconds remaining.

The Anaheim Ducks clinched a playoff spot for the fourth consecutive season in their 6-5 overtime loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Ducks entered the game needing only one standings point to reach the postseason and got it when they rallied from a 4-1 deficit to force the extra period.

Nazem Kadri had two goals and two assists, including the overtime winner, for Toronto which has won five of its past six games.

Riley Sheahan scored a career-high two goals to help Detroit take a four-goal lead into the third period and the Red Wings held on to beat the Montreal Canadiens 4-3.

Sheahan’s second goal came 12 seconds after Luke Glendening scored early in the second, then Anthony Mantha’s first NHL goal gave the Red Wings a 4-0 lead late in the period.

Montreal’s Tomas Plekanec scored in the opening minute of the third. Paul Byron and Max Pacioretty followed with goals to pull Montreal within a goal.

Petr Mrazek kept the lead and had 26 saves for the Red Wings, who are in a tightly contested race for a wild-card spot.

Craig Smith had the decisive goal in the shootout after the Nashville Predators scored twice to tie in the third period in a 3-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks.

James Neal and Filip Forsberg scored 1:12 apart to even the score with about 7 minutes remaining in regulation for the Predators, and Pekka Rinne stopped 23 shots through overtime.

Bo Horvat scored at 6:52 of the first period, ending the Canucks’ longest scoring drought in franchise history at 234:52. Daniel Sedin’s power-play goal later in the period made it 2-0, and Ryan Miller had 30 saves as Vancouver lost its sixth straight.

Dustin Byfuglien and Paul Postma scored less than three minutes apart early in the third period to help the Winnipeg Jets top the Los Angeles Kings 4-1 and Eddie Lack made 42 saves as the Carolina Hurricanes beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-2.

Elsewhere Thursday, the Minnestoa Wild thrashed the Calgary Flames 6-2, the Philadelphia Flyers beat the Colorado Avalanche 4-2, the Edmonton Oilers had a 6-3 victory over the San Jose Sharks and the Arizona Coyotes topped the Dallas Stars 3-1.
