JEDDAH: For once, a team not named Ekis became the talk of the bowling town as Pinslashers claimed Team of the Week honors during the 13th session in the the FTBJ-ICBL 36th Conference bowling tournament at the Bowling City here.
Picking up pace after a slow start, Ekis proceeded to compile the top tally of 45 points in this five-man team Friday afternoon league event.
In winning their second award Pinslashers join Ekis Reload, with three, and Saudia Ice Cream, with two, as the teams to win multiple Team of the Week awards.
D’ Barkads were the second-best on the day with 41 points followed by Patsamba 38, JP Gilas 2 34.5 and Cristal-Rock n Roll 33.5.
Defending champion Hidada Ltd. pooled 31 points in sixth position. Sky Freight-OSN was a point back on 30 and Zekiesha and Saudia Ice Cream were likewise separated by a hairline on 26 and 25.
Sagmit Dental Clinic tallied 25 points. In an unfamiliar scene and after three straight weeks in the spotlight, Ekis Reload finished in a tie for third and second to last on 18 points with Sadafco. United Doctors was last on 4 points.
Winning the individual Bowler of the Week race were Nathy Pusag of Gilas 2 in the ladies division and Patsamba’s Nap Patayan in the men’s side on 638 and 711 respectively.
Rommel Cagampang, May Lourdes and team captain Roger Daquioag were the most productive players at Pinslashers with rounds of 685, 631 and 628. Matet Cavite was the other player to contribute from the distaff side on 546, while Carlos Constantino and Rommel Agbayani added 167-173 and 194.
Ed Sardiña shot 647 at the helm of D’ Barkads who also got 627 and 514 from the ladies pair of Thess Grandia and Cheryl Tibay on 627 and 514, 188-202 from Leo Edejer, 212-236 from Rally zamora and 189-192 from Bing Amolo.
The Patayans did well at Patsamba with daughter and mother Sharmaine and Susan following the lead of the patriarch, Nap, on 616 and 556. Serge Rivera was the other player to do full games on 571 while Benjie Cils had 187-165 and Cesar Sacramed made 197.
Joining Pusag as leading scorers at Gilas 2 were Jeanette Cerbito 625 and Rey Beltran 598, and with two games each were Paolo Allego 189-189, Marlon Bernabe 162-182 and Rene Punzalan 183-170.
Mohd Al Amri showed the way at Cristal as he shot the second best score of 707 to go with the 558 by Jojie Manalansan, 540 by Aileen Miralbuna, 539 by Eloisa Fernandez, 238-209 by Jay Bengco and 181 by Jess Pineda.
