RIYADH: The Riyadh Cricket League’s new season tookoff with the Twenty20 Cup at the RCL Complex. Forty teams are taking part in the tourney.

In the first round matches, Pak Cricket Club, Royal Fighters, Konkan Green, SACO, Telangana Warriors, South Indian Strikers, Eleven Star, Diamond 1 and Diamond 2 scored wins.

The highlights of the first week were centuries by Tallal 116 (Pak CC) and Manoj 105 (Konkan Green).

Other notable performances came from: Arafat Baig 84 (South India Strikers), Ateeq 51 (Diamond 2), Kamar Nawaz 50 (Eleven Star), Abdul Salam 45 (Warriors). Madani K (Royal Fighters), Taiyab Afzal (Diamond) and Uday (SACO) excelled with their all-round performance.

In the best match of the day, Pak Cricket Club put up a total of 231 in their stipulated 20 overs. Thanks to Tallal’s match winning innings of 116. Waseem Khan supported him with 33 runs.

In reply Riyadh Pirates managed 124 runs. Fahad top-scored with 40 runs. Usman & Asad both grabbed 2 wkts each.

In another close encounter, United XI set SACO a target of 172 runs for victory. Shuja top-scored with 78 runs. Akram and Uday bagged 3 and 2 wickets respectively.

In reply SACO CC chased down the target in 18 overs with the loss of just 3 wickets and won by 7 wickts. Uday 48, Shoeb 38 and Azmath 29 were the main run getters. Shuja took 2 wkts.

In another interesting match, Royal Fighters batted first and put on board 191 runs. K. Madani 28, S.Madani 43 and Tauseef 56 were the main contributors.

In reply Gujranwala fell 20 runs short and managed 171. Kamran was the highest scorer with 84 runs. K.Madani did most of the damage and took 4 wickets supported by Tawaf’s 3.
