Talented Filipino young golfer Christer Rem Sibug was back in winning mode after a vacation in his native Philippines when he claimed the centerpiece A-Division title last Friday in the October Monthly Medal at the InterContinental Riyadh Golf Club, the all-grass course in the City Center that caters to golfers of all skill levels.

The 15-year old Rem, who is now arguably the best single-digit handicap Filipino golfer, won with 29 points in the Stableford format competition. Farooq Saeed was runner-up on 28 points.

“The par -3 course was not that easy and the pin positions were very tricky,” said Rem who will compete in the Saudi Aramco Invitational Tournament at Rolling Hills Golf Club in Dhahran next month, according to his father Resty, the immediate past president of FGA (Filipino Golf Association).

The InterCon course has been a happy hunting ground for the Sibug father-and-son tandem as they won a number of titles to add to their growing trophy collection.

Korean Jong Hoon Cho returned a good score of level par (36 points) to win the B-Division crown from FGA President Joe Vallado who posted 3 over (33 points).

In the C- Division, veteran golfer Khalid Mahmood won the championship. Another Filipino young golfer John Calupas took the runner-up position.

In the Ladies Division, Kim Jin Soon won the first prize with Laure Bellat runner-up.

Zafar Khan and Vallado won the nearest to the pin prizes on the two designated holes.

InterContinental Riyadh Hotel Resident Manager Luca De Stefano handed over the trophies and prizes to the winners assisted by Mounir Melliti, recreation manager.

The event concluded with a sumptuous buffet at the clubhouse.
