The 27th Annual Riyadh Inter-Hotels Basketball 2014 tournament entered its second week with Amr Gado’s Ritz Carlton winning

its first match vs. Al Faisaliah Hotel 67-60 after a defeat by defending champion InterCon.

Riyadh Marriott of Jebb Cabrianna likewise broke into the win column by crushing Marvin Magnaye’s Four Points by Sheraton Khaldia 71-51 in the young tournament for the benefit of the children of UNICEF, sponsored by InterContinental Hotel Riyadh and hosted by Sheraton Riyadh Hotel & Towers.

In a man-sized upset Ritz Carlton coach Rolly Mendoza humbled one of the best teams fin the tournament as Faisaliah boys were caught unawares by Ritz Carlton’s magnificent five of Jaypee Tulao, Edmond Mendoza, JC Ricamora, Chowking Yee and Charles Browly . Mc Guardacasa, Fawas Al Shammary, Mark Onofre and Muneef Mousa provided support.

With the veteran Ed Manansala at the helm and with a lot of help from JR Gallardo, Erick Dalangin, Carlo Tolengco and Riyadh Marriott handily won against Four Points.

Sheraton Riyadh posted their second win, 71-54 against Kempinski, as it pulled away after a close first half.

The third quarter ended 51-35 to Sheraton which got a lift from Naldy Hilario, Ziyao Soro, Erano “Jhuk” Campo, Joseph Abad and Jay De Guzman.

John Rey Belnas, Jeff Reyes, Erwin Helomina and Al Ghalibe who was the first 3 pointer and win a cash prize courtesy of Coach Francis Balanquit of Al Faisaliah Team.

Later in the week, Al Faisaliah defeated InterCon 75-66.

Marvin Casubuan lead Faisaliah with a game-high 20 points and 13 rebounds. Archie Zabala, Abel Coral. Raymond Inigo, Carlo Hall at the center, Reynaldo Eusebio, Ranel Lumahang and Joseph Ipil also contributed to victory.

Monday games saw mismatches with Marriott routing Novotel 74-38 and Kempinski blasting Four Points 78-36.
