RIYADH: SABB team captained by Ahmed Al Qarqoush continued to convert quality performance into greater win points to bring home the Team and Bowler of the Week honors during Week 2 of the second round at the Interbank Tenpin Bowlers of Riyadh (ITBR) league.

SABB erased its own record of 541 points by scoring 544 win points and was awarded Team of the Week honors playing as the bye-team. Class A bowler Arnold Jesena completed a SABB double, shooting the high series of 931 (206,0239, 239 and 247) to run away with the Bowler of the Week title. Qarqous complemented Jesena on 814 with Jaffer Al Kathiri on 779, Gerry Austria 722 and Mohammed Abu Alsaud 687.

The battle of heavyweights BSF and Alinma Aspire ended in a draw at 2-all. However, Alinma Aspire got the edge with a huge 280 bonus points 528-320 points. Rainier Torres led his team with a four-game series of 885. Rainier’s sibling, Koko Torres, contributed 831, captain Jojo de Silva had 821 while Abdulrahman Ahmed and Lito Tolentino rolled 802 and 697.

Banque Saudi Fransi managed to score 320 points to secure third spot in the team standings. Southpaw Abet Minoza tallied 841 four-game series while captain Jun Bantug, Angel Diaz, Noel Morales and Edwin Timango rolled 812, 760, 714 and 688 respectively.

The match between defending champion Riyad Bank and Alinma United ended in a draw at 210 points each. Sonny Alviso was the highest scorer in RB with 765 four-game series. He was supported by Ric Singson, James Frizzle and Freddie Solomon who tallied 759, 730 and 687. Mixi Lechuga rolled 488 while captain Zohair Oqilan had 188.

In Alinma United, the foursome of Jun Macarandan, Bernie Torres, Alan Ofreneo and Teody Zulaybar matched the enemy’s level of play with rounds of 744, 729, 724 and 716. Captain Bobby Ting and Deen Thassim rolled 326 and 322.

Straight bowler Jonathan Avenido led SAIB to victory against SHB 180-110. He tallied 793 and was assisted by Gil Catulay, Julius Queypo, Joey Salem and captain Eddison Austria who rolled 720, 712, 704 and 663 series.

In SHB, veteran bowler Gerry Ayonon made a good start with 204 pinfalls en route to a four-game series of 717. But Ayonon failed to get support from his teammates as they won only the third game of the match. Straight bowler Cholo Nieto, Clem Salazar and Arnel Bernabe rolled 653, 525 and 509 while Eckart Gayeta, Gil Hembra and captain Greg Antonio tallied 395, 334 and 288. Val Baraquio had 156.

The tournament is played Monday nights at the ITBR’s new venue Universal Bowling Center (UBC) in Riyadh and is sponsored by all participating banks.
