Sarawat Superstores effectively put the lock on No. 1 spot with still two weeks before the positioning round following its statement game during the 17th session in the Thursday League 11th Season for Sarawat Superstores Cup at the Bowling City in Sultana Center.

Sarawat trotted out the top tally of 33 points en route to another Team of the Week award and just missed a double when Mohd. Amri was elbowed out for the Bowler of the Week plum by Jay Bengco of Orient Watch.

Amri shot 702 on scratch lines of 187, 234 and 257 to Bengco’s 703 that stood as the high series of the week.

Orient Watch was two points adrift on 31 with D’ Barkads a distant third on the day with 25 points. Bowling City took the fourth position on 21 while Fineboyz Rhinos and Habagat tied on 16 points.

D’ Engineers tallied 15 points, while Bulacan Knight and Pindot brought up the rear on 13 and 10.

After the first game where it placed third for 7 points Sarawat Superstore went first-second-first in the last two games and overall output in a resolute display led by Amri.

The trio of Paolo Allego, newly crowned No-Tap champion Igna Salgado and Gerry Mandanas enjoyed big games too to back up Amri on 629, 608 and 597 in that order. Bandar Al Dosari and Alex Flora shared the remaining three games on 187-234 and 189.

Bengco carded scratch games of 245, 236 and 198 to show the way at third game winner Orient that also drew 690 from Edwin Ronquillo, 572 from Danny Bautista and 568 by Elo Manalo. Obie Ycasas had 1667-216 and Sami Al Qarni 200 to round out the Orient scoring.

First game topnotcher D’ Barkads had Romy Bunagan and Dan Ednave hitting 626 and 605 to go with the 583 by Rudy Valenzuela, 207-214 by Rey Beltran, 199-200 by Leo Edejer and 178-148 by Bing Amolo.

For Bowling City Pancho Cuevas, Frank Afurong and Cris Villavelez rolled full games of 614, 589 and 567 with Archie Santos on 204-191, Ruben Grino 171-189 and Francis Guron 173-226.

Joel Nidoy led D’ Engineers on 683 with Bob Stone and Bash Langa matching cards of 545s.

After the Eid holidays break the tournament resumes today for the 18th week.

Meantime, Saturday leaguers swing back into action for the OSN-AFTBL 49th Open Conference on Saturday at Jeddah Lanes.

Defending champion Sky Freight Forwarders lead the teams entered in the Saturday night league event organized by FTBJ (Filipino Tenpin Bowlers of Jeddah).
