JEDDAH: The Western Province Cricket Association had a field day when they won all their three matches in the Inter-City Triangular cricket series, organized by WPCA and sponsored by My Care Hala Sports Group, Crown Steel, Sipco beverages and Usman Gems, held recently.

In the first 35-over match, WPCA Chairman XI trounced RCA XI by 7 wickets, WPCA President XI humbled MCL XI by 124 runs and in the Twenty 20 encounter, WPCA Executive XI won against RCA Combined Registered League XI by 12 runs.

In the first 35 overs RCA XI after a fine start lost wickets at regular intervals and were restricted to 212. Nasir Abbasi 49, Zeeshan Haider 50 and Irsahd 28 were the scorers. Shoaib Ali scalped 4 for 72, Amjad 2 for 17, Adnan Dani 2 for 39 and Abuhuraira 2 for 43. WPCA Chairman XI in reply lost both the openers early but Kashif Shafeeq smashed 94 off 66 balls while Shahbaz Rasheed remained unbeaten on 71. The two were involved in a156–run partnership to get the required 213 for 3. Zeeshan Haider claimed 2 wickets

The second 35 overs encounter, WPCA President XI plunderied 303 against MCL. Khurram Karamat hammered 50 while Afzal Saleem played a responsible innings of 88. Imran Azam 26 and Hasham Malik 41 were the others who impressed. Tauseef had 4 for 58, Mazhar and Omer Sohail 2 bagged wickets each. MCL chasing mammoth target were restricted to 179 and lost by 124 runs. Kashif Awan stroked 44 and Bilal Chaudhry 34. Imran Yusuf grabbed 3 for 22 and Faiq Habeeb 2.

WPCA Executive XI racked up 181 for 7 in Twenty20 match. Nadeem scored 50 runs while Usman Ghulab struck 36. Amin took 3 for 26 and Nadeem 2. RCA CRL XI chasing fell short by 14 runs and scored 167 for 9. Bhakhat Amin scored 33, Atiq Ahmed and Mudassir 22 each. Akbar was the pick of the bowler with 4 for 39.

After the matches a glittering awards ceremony was held with the representations from SSC, WPCA, RCA and MCL including Sameer Nidal Khan.
