Xtreme-Taurus finally got its hands on a Team of the Week award after a strong performance during the fifth session in the OSN-FTBJ 50th Open Conference bowling tournament at the Bowling City here.

The race for honors was not even close with Taurus well in front of the chasing pack on 45.5 points, a total that was second only to the league best thus far of 46 set the previous week by Sky Freight-OSN.

Emy de Guzman’s Sky Freight squad returned 39 points as the second-best team of the night with D’ Barkads 5 points adrift on 34.

BCT-Lutong Pinoy and Red Dragons tied on 32 followed by MC Hammer 30.5, Hal Falcon 24 and Habagat 23.

Al Murjana gathered 18 points in ninth place during the session. Alfa Moe Yasser and GBI TBBGI tied on 12 points while Bank AlJazira Fawri was 12th and last on 10 points.

Zaldy Bacero of MC Hammer carded the high series with handicap of 745 and the record to beat in the category so far as he claimed the Bowler of the Week accolade.

After a tie with MC Hammer in second and third places in the first game for 10.5 points apiece there was no looking back for Taurus as it went first-second-first in the last two games and overall output.

Solid rounds of 624, 599 and 573 from Edwin Ronquillo, Joel Nidoy and Alex Flora laid the foundation of a Taurus Team of the Week victory. The others who contributed to the Taurus cause were Jimmy Urbano 247-219, Raul delos Reyes 175-177, Jun Pamintuan 189 and Reggie Mendoza 151.

Sky Freight had Oca Bernabe the leading scorer once again on 605 with Nanding Siasoco and Rod Morales matchig cards of 586s. With two games each were James Galvan 162-185, Bonnie Garcia 177-216 and Goying Salazar 178-204.

For BCT-Lutong Pinoy the top scorer was Ed Sardina on 600. Also with strong rounds were Igna Salgado 586 and Paul Antiporda 584. Mohd. Al Amari added 188-168, Abdul Aziz Alsani had 186-156 and Gerry Mandanas tallied 171-181.

Leading the charge at Red Dragons were Jack Jarin 656 and Bash Langa 617. They were supported by Carl Constantino 551, Ally Bin 141-158, Jurmain Juripae 137-170 and Jess Pineda 180-169.

In addition to Bacero the others that scored for Hammer were Ed Botardo 583, Mark Punzalan 540, Melvin Lising 517 and Rene Punzalan 488.
