Green, Violet post wins in SPTC Chairman’s Cup

Green showed its full might with a 3-0 drubbing of Blue while Violet capitalized on its doubles games to get past Orange 2-1 as the Samahang Pinoy Tennis Club (SPTC) opened its annual Chairman’s Cup (by the Next Generation) at the tennis courts of King Abdul Aziz University here.
Starting off with the 8-3 win by Moi Noto and Mahdi Mayhuddin against a fighting Memed and Matori Abdulshayed of Blue team, Green never looked back as its second set singles player Saqir dealt a 6-3 blow to JM Bravo to secure the match win at 2-0. Playing the third set, Green’s Jun Tomas and Eczar Baltar rallied from behind to post an 8-6 win against Blue’s Gary Bautro and Barum Bahrom to score a clean 3-0 match victory.
In the other court, Violet was held at bay by Orange before finally winning the match on the third set as Hamza Maulion and Erwan Nurlawis posted a convincing 8-3 win against Edmund and Saiful Anwar Rahman for a final score of 2-1. First set was won by Violet’s Celso and Marlon Pagsanjan at 8-5 over Tahir Amin Suryadi and Oca Lovitos while the second set singles was won by Orange’s Mario Betorio against Lito Bentulan on 6-3.
This single round-robin team tennis tournament composed of six teams is organized by the Samahang Pinoy Tennis Club with its new set of officers for 2013 under the helm of Chairman Marlon Pagsanjan. Other officers are Oca Lovitos, VC-Internal Affairs; Erwan Nurlawis, VC-External; Jun Tomas, VC-Membership; Eleazar Baltar, secretary; Jose Mari Bravo, treasurer; Vhoi Ortiz, auditor; Lito Bentulan, business manager; Ben Micu, tournament director and Chet Bautista, Public Relations director. Club advisers are Cesar Quilendrino, Rading Bautista and Gary Bautro. Providing logistical support is Astec adviser Bernie Soguilon.
