The Al-Kharj heritage festival is attracting a large number of visitors to the King Abdulaziz Palace where it is being held.

Organized by Al-Kharj Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities under the theme “Glimpses of devotion to forefathers’ heritage,” the Al-Kharj Tourism and Heritage 3 festiva was inaugurated by Shwaimi bin Ajyan Al-Ketab, chairman of Al Kharj chamber.

The opening ceremony was attended by a number of officials from local government and private agencies, SCTA officials and a number of prominent local citizens.

Accompanied by a number of guests and officials, Al Ketab toured the festival’s exhibitions, public pavilions and the folk village, which displayed handicrafts, traditional food and varied pieces of heritage.

The festival is open daily for visitors from 3:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. through Dec 14.

Mohammad Zeyad, a local visitor, said: “I am delighted with such an impressive heritage fest and hope that through undertaking such exhibitions and activities the local administration will continue to develop tourism and awareness of the historical locations in the Kingdom.”

Al-Kharj is a place rich in heritage besides being at a strategic location both commercially and industrially in the Gulf region.

The exhibition hosts about 70 bodies, both public and private, besides a photo gallery, which displays over 50 photos highlighting Al-Kharj's past and its significant landmarks.
