The Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) is facing a 29.3 percent decrease in the number of female students this year, said Al-Watan newspaper.
The article said it got copies of internal writings between TVTC officials. In their writings, the officials assigned the drop to the limited training spaces, a shortage in staff and job announcements in the military sector.
A copy of an internal report that the newspaper obtained, showed that TVTC management is studying these reasons and will come up with a plan to limit the decrease in students’ admission.
An admission statistic showed that 114,700 male students applied for studies at the TVTC in 2011/2012. Only 42,824 of them were admitted. Female applicants reached 49,642, while 4,886 were admitted.
