Six Saudi artists displayed their artwork in the exhibition “The outlines of bodies and faces” at the French consulate in Jeddah on Tuesday.

Louis Blin, the French consul general, thanked Abdullah Idris, the leader of the Saudi artists, for organizing the collective exhibition.

“We offered him a solo exhibition but he generously added the work of five young artists. It is an honor for us to host the works of two Saudi generations,” said Blin.

Taha Al-Sabban, Rasha Al-Mazen, Najlaa Al-Salim, Shroug Al-Hashimi and Ghada Al-Hassan, who participated in the exhibition with Idris, come from different parts of Saudi Arabia and have different backgrounds and styles of work.

“Their work opened new dimensions to understand the work, style and understanding of society by Saudi artists. Taha Al-Sabban is a famous and leading artist of contemporary art in Jeddah. Abdullah Idris’s amazing artwork contributes to heritage and traditional collections. His work also shows his understanding of historical backgrounds,” said Blin.

The work of Shroug Al-Hashmi was presented as modern art of the 21st century.

“My art work is a form of mixed media and collage. I like to work with all types of art material, because I think it is just how you make things beautiful and creative. Through my work I want to present our culture but in a modern style. That’s why I chose shisha (water pipe) as a medium for my art,” she said.

Najlaa Al-Salim from Riyadh participated with three paintings showing sand and sand dunes with a figure of a lady in different positions. “My work is abstract and expressive, which I like very much,” said Al-Salim.
