JEDDAH: The Saudi International Motor Show (SIMS), claimed to be the Kingdom’s largest and most influential automotive event, is opens on Sunday, showcasing new models of vehicles ranging from sedans, coupes, SUVs, and hatchbacks to convertibles and

mini-vans.

Running Dec. 13-17 at the Jeddah Convention & Exhibition Center, the 37th Saudi International Motor Show (SIMS) 2015 is expected to have 100,000 local and regional visitors.

With over 40,000 sqm of exhibition space, automakers from the United States, Europe, China, Japan and Korea are displaying their 2016 models.

Aiming to provide as much for car fans as it does for those working in the automobile industry, this year’s event includes several adrenalin pumping live action events, notably the final round of Saudi Star Drift Championship, Off-Road Experience, car customization, interactive areas and electronic virtual driving.

The five-day event offers visitors the chance to discover the latest technology in car manufacturing and design and provides a platform for trade professionals to come together. On display are the latest models and technology in the automotive industry.

Those seeking motorcycles, public transport and commercial vehicles will also have a wide range to choose and car enthusiasts will be treated to the latest gadgetry from accessories, lights, music systems and upgrades displayed by Saudi and international companies.

“This year, SIMS 2015 brings together elements of the automotive business with diverse events,” Zahoor Siddique, VP, Al-Harithy Company for Exhibitions (ACE), said. “Aside from promoting sales, the event has lined up entertainment and education activities linked to the automotive world.

The event is expected to give an opportunity to the visitors and the community to experience the features and performance of new cars that have been provided by automakers.

The Jeddah Motor Show is being held with the support of Jeddah Gov. Prince Mishaal bin Majed. Its visiting hours are from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. between Sunday and Thursday.
