RIYADH: A joint fund is needed to promote trade and investment between Saudi Arabia and Jordan, according to a top Saudi businessman.

Hamdan Al-Samreen, chairman of the Council of Saudi Chambers (CSC), made this proposal at the Saudi-Jordan Joint Business Council in Amman on Monday.

Al-Samreen suggested that the fund should be equally financed by both parties. He thanked Prince Khaled bin Faisal bin Turki, Saudi ambassador in Amman, for his continuous support in boosting Saudi-Jordan bilateral relations.

He also proposed that sub-committees should be set up to monitor various operations aimed at developing investment and trade between the two countries.

Mohammed Ateeq and Tariq bin Mohammed Rashwan represented the Saudi embassy in Amman at the discussions. Jordan Chamber of Commerce President Nael Kabariti urged Saudi businessmen to make use of the opportunities available in Jordan, which has an agreement to market its products in the European Union.
