KARACHI: Pakistani shares ended higher on Wednesday on stable global oil prices and buying in some index heavyweights due to attractive valuations, traders said.
The benchmark 100-share index of the Karachi Stock Exchange closed up 0.76 percent, or 247.56 points, at 32,714.60.
“Investors were tempted to take positions in Oil and Gas Development Co. Ltd. OGDC.KA and Pakistan Petroleum Ltd. due to lucrative valuation offered by both stocks,” said Muhammad Rizwan, head of Sales at Topline Securities Pvt Ltd.
Total traded volume dropped by 2.4 percent compared with the previous day, with traded value dropping to 7.7 billion rupees ($73.47 million).
The rupee ended weaker at 104.80/104.90 against the dollar, compared with Tuesday’s close of 104.70/104.80.
Overnight rates in the money market fell to 6.00 percent from Tuesday’s close of 6.25 percent.
