KARACHI: Pakistani stocks ended lower on Monday, with the benchmark 100-share index of the Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) closing down 0.20 percent, or 66.30 points, at 33,926.70.
Lack of immediate triggers as last leg of earnings announcement nears and caution near 34,000 led to lowest turnover since October last year.
While cement sector also struggled to find a clear direction as investors prefer to wait for clarity after D.G. Khan Co. Cement Ltd. updated investors on expansion, said Saleem John, an analyst at Al-Hoqani Securities & Investment Corp.
Pioneer Cement Ltd. rose 1.57 percent to Rs. 84.10, while D.G.Khan Cement Co. Ltd ended up 1.15 percent at Rs.143.30.
The rupee closed at 101.70/101.75 against the dollar, compared with Friday's close of 101.65/101.70.
Overnight rates in the money market rose to 8.50 percent from Friday's close of 7.50 percent.
