KARACHI: Pakistani stocks ended lower, with the benchmark 100-share index of the Karachi Stock Exchange declining 0.41 percent, or 124.29 points, to 29,978.94.
The market got off to a slow start after an extended Eid Al-Azha holiday weekend.
Fauji Cement Co. Ltd. led the cement sector and was among the top traded stocks in terms of volume, said Samar Iqbal, a dealer with Topline Securities.
Pakistan Petroleum Ltd. fell 1.19 percent to 223.25 rupees, while Fauji Cement closed up 2.16 percent at 20.35 rupees. The rupee ended at 102.70/102.75 against the dollar, compared with its previous close of 102.45/102.52.
Overnight rates in the money market remained flat at 10.00 percent.
