JEDDAH: The benchmark Tadawul All-Share Index (TASI) finished Tuesday’s trading session with a handsome gain of 0.77 percent or 74.4 points to 9,801.4 levels.

On an YTD basis, TASI registered a positive return of 17.62 percent.

Large cap (+0.91 percent) remained prominent among market cap indices, the GulfBase said in its market commentary.

All sectors extended gains except Transport, Multi-Investment and Tourism, which pared 140 points jointly.

Remaining 12 sectors showed a collection of 940 points on aggregate basis.

Positive performance was boosted by Industrial Investment sector, which surged 331.4 points or 3.61 percent to close at 9,507.05.

Real Estate Development was another significant gaining sector, up 2.05 percent for the day. The heavyweight Jabal Omar Development Company grew 3.76 percent to SR79.94. The company has gained roughly 60 percent in one year.

Market breadth was strong for the day as 89 stocks witnessing advances and other 72 stocks marking a decline.

The share price of big player Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Maaden) rallied to a growth of 6.46 percent, clinching the spot as top gainer among Saudi stocks.

The company share price climbed to a fresh-all time high of SR48.1 before closing at SR47.93. MAADEN also topped the liquidity chart, pumping SR877.5 million, a relative market share of 10.9 percent.

MAADEN with trades over 18.6 million shares positioned itself among the most active stocks, ranking second.

Amanah Cooperative Insurance followed it, incrementing 5.39 percent. Unluckily, the company is down 63.5 percent in one year.

Petrochemical giant Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC) finished at SR 104.2, up 1.26 percent for the day.

Market activity was a little high as compared to previous day but still it remained below the 50-day average level.

Approximately 264 million shares worth SR 8.1 billion changed hands on the Saudi stock market.
