Saudi Arabia’s benchmark Tadawul All-Share Index (TASI) again went below the psychologically important 8,000-point level Thursday, closing at 7,981.07.
The index pared 21.07 points or 0.26 percent for the entire day, wavering in a range of 57.45 points.
On year-to-date basis, the TASI’s yield reached 17.35 percent. All market cap indices finished to the downside, with Micro cap falling over one percent.
Sectoral indices performed in a mixed fashion, with seven sectors accumulating an aggregate of 315.2 points and eight sectors trimming 385.5 points collectively.
The losses made by the Construction (-1.34 percent) and Industrial Investment (-1.26 percent) being offset by rise in Multi-investment (+1.85 percent) and Telecom (+1.5 percent).
Market breadth was negative as declining stocks outnumbered advancers by a margin of four-to-one on the Tadawul market.
The heavyweight Kingdom Holding Company made the biggest jump among all Saudi equities, marching higher by 4.62 percent to close the day at SR 19.25.
Saudi Telecom was another significant heavyweight gainer, which surged 3.3 percent to close the day at SR43.7.
It also topped the value chart, pumping more liquidity (SR 319.5 million) into the market.
Saudi Indian Company for Co-operative Insurance (Wafa Insurance), on the other hand, recorded the biggest losses, reversing after 8-day surge and dropping 5.39 percent for the day.
Market activity was high as compared to previous day but still it remained below the 50-day average level.
Tadawul volume set sold approximately 190 million shares, a decrease of 13.6 percent from the 50-day average of 220.7 million shares. Total turnover of SR 5.3 billion was flowed into the market yesterday.
Al-Ahsa Development Company remained key gainer among most active stocks, advancing 3.16 percent and capturing 4.56 percent of the overall market volume.
