DUBAI: Qatar Gas Transport Co. (Nakilat), one of the world's largest shippers of liquefied natural gas, posted a 25 percent rise in nine-month net profit, a Doha-based newspaper reported on Sunday.

Nakilat made a net profit of 693 million riyals ($190.3 million) in the nine months to Sept. 30, Gulf Times reported, up from 553 million riyals in the year-earlier period. Qatari media sometimes report corporate results before companies officially publish their earnings on the Qatar Exchange website.

Those figures mean Nakilat made a third-quarter net profit of 248 million riyals, according to Reuters calculations. This compares with a profit of 193 million riyals a year ago.
