DUBAI: Magnus Olsson, co-founder and CEO, Careem, will deliver a keynote speech about the ideas that changed the world at Ericsson’s Change-Makers Forum scheduled in Dubai on Jan. 10 .

The event, which has the support of Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, chairman, and CEO Emirates Airline and Group Dubai Aviation City, is being held at the Sofitel The Palm.

Olsson will discuss how innovation is a key factor to shape the future networked society in addition to how ideas and innovations helped to seize the opportunity provided by the transformation that the society is witnessing thanks to the development of IT.

Olsson, who is also the chief navigator at Careem, said: “The power of technology helps to target business opportunities and offer solutions for consumers globally. Careem enables this transformation in the way that Ericsson explains in its networked society, enabling connectivity for everyone. Participating in the Change-Makers Forum is a great opportunity to highlight the importance of connecting everything and everyone.”

Rafiah Ibrahim, president, Ericsson Region Middle East and Africa, said: ”Entrepreneurs and startups can lead the way of innovation and tap the opportunities that the networked society brings. During the Change-Makers Forum, we aim to inspire the audience with ideas and opportunities enabled by the networked society.”

Ericsson claims to be the driving force behind the networked society — a world leader in communications technology and services.

“Our long-term relationships with every major telecom operator in the world allow people, business and society to fulfill their potential and create a more sustainable future,” the company stated.

“Our services, software and infrastructure – especially in mobility, broadband and the cloud – are enabling the telecom industry and other sectors to do better business, increase efficiency, improve the user experience and capture new opportunities,” the statement added.

With approximately 115,000 professionals and customers in 180 countries, the company says it combines global scale with technology and services leadership.

“We support networks that connect more than 2.5 billion subscribers. Forty percent of the world’s mobile traffic is carried over Ericsson networks. And our investments in research and development ensure that our solutions – and our customers — stay in front,” the company stated.

Founded in 1876, Ericsson has its headquarters in Stockholm, Sweden. Net sales in 2014 were $ 33.1 billion.
