Saudi Arabia’s benchmark Tadawul All-Share Index saw a significant setback on Tuesday, passing through a lean session of 0.83 percent.

The TASI spending most of the session in the downward territory closed 75 points lower to 8,966.33.

Large Cap index with one percent negative change performed worst, the GulfBase said in its market commentary.

Al-Rajhi Bank slipped 3.4 percent and bellwether Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC) 1.31 percent.

However, Almarai Company turned green with impressive gains of 3.93 percent, closing at SR91.2.

Five out of Tadawul's 15 sectors witnessed a positive change, with Retail advancing 1.17 percent to 17,471.96. Remaining twofold sectors closed in the red, paring an aggregate of 723.9 points.

Real Estate Development sector posted the largest losses, falling 4.32 percent to close at 7,538.34.

The heavyweight Jabal Omar Development Co. showing excessive losses of 5.65 percent became the major decliner. The company volume was 255 percent greater than previous day.

Petrochemical was another significant declining sector, going down one percent. PetroRabigh and National Petrochemical Company plunged roughly five percent for the day.

The market breadth was negative, with 52 stocks witnessing advances and 96 others marking a decline.

Aldrees Petroleum topped the performance chart at Tadawul, soaring up 4.16 percent for the day. Aldrees also hit a fresh 5-year high SR66.25 before closing at SR65.55.

Dar Alarkan and Alinma Bank with trades over 78 million shares topped the volume chart, capturing 30 percent market volume jointly.

Market volume set sold around 267 million shares, a decrease of 5.6 percent as compared to previous level. The volume remained twenty percent below the 50-day average of 335.6 million shares.

The value of these shares totaled SR7.4 billion, an increase of 3.3 percent from previous level.
