The Saudi stock market continued its upward march and rose for a fifth session on Monday.

The Tadawul All-Share Index (TASI) closed higher to 9,789.52 points, adding 37.36 points or 0.38 percent for the entire day.

All market cap indices finished to the upside. Most of the major sectors closed in the green territory, accumulating an aggregate of over 500 points.

Real Estate Development outdid rest of the Saudi sectors, advancing 76.35 points or 1.17 percent to 6,619.96 points. Banking sector added considerable 170 points, up 0.85 percent.

On the other negative side, Insurance sector posted the largest losses, going down by 0.88 percent to 1,381.34. Al Ahlia Insurance and BUPA Insurance topped the decliner chart, reducing by 7.66 percent and 3.65 percent respectively.

But Bupa volume went 3.8 times high over its 50-day average, liquidating 1.5 million shares.

Heavy weights closed in mixed fashion, where Al-Rajhi Bank grew 1.09 percent and Saudi Telecom fell 0.68 percent for the day. SABB is trading near 5-year high, closing green at SR50.24.

Advancing stocks outnumbered decliners by a margin of 82 to 58 and the prices of 21 companies remained unchanged.

Saudi Advanced Industries came out as key gainer amongst Saudi stocks, surging by 4.28 percent and closing at SR27.75.

Interestingly, Abdulmohsen Alhokair group with SR716.5 million liquidity and Umm Al-Qura Cement Company with trades over 18 million again led the activity charts.

Market activity still remained low, ranging from 13 percent to 17 percent. More than 176 million shares worth SR6.2 billion changed hands on the Saudi stock market.

The 50-day average for trading turnover is closer to 299 million shares worth SR9.5 billion.
