Saudi Arabia’s benchmark stock index (TASI) lost nearly fifty-two points or 0.47 percent to end Sunday’s trading at 11,010.68 points level.

The index plunged to a maximum 84 points during second half, reflecting a negative slope.

With this reduction, TASI’s year-to-date gains reached to exactly 29 percent. Micro Cap performed worst among the market cap indices, declining more than one percent.

Most of the major sectors showed a negative change, shedding an aggregate of 529 points.

Real Estate Development sector came out as the biggest decliner, going down 1.62 percent to close the day at 7,014.51.

On the positive side, Hotel & Tourism rose by 2.53 percent to cross the 25,000-mark.

Top ten heavyweights finished to the downside, with Saudi telecom dipping less than one percent.

Only Saudi British Bank witnessed a positive change, advancing more than one percent to SR62.63.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancers by a margin of three-to-one on the Saudi stock market yesterday.

Saudi Real Estate Co. posted the largest losses amongst all stocks, falling 7.86 percent to close the day at SR49.89.

On the other hand, Solidarity Saudi Takaful Co. outdid rest of its peers, surging 6.45 percent for the day.

Its share price climbed to a new 26-week high of SR28.1 before closing at SR27.56.

The company has gained 22.5 percent in one month.

Interestingly, the company volume went ten times high over its 50-day average, liquidating 24.6 million shares.

However, Alinma Bank appeared to be the most active and liquid stock of the day.

Share trading activity remained high as compared to previous day; turnover went up by 17.6 percent in terms of volume and 9.2 percent in terms of value.

More than 280 million shares worth SR9.2 billion changed hands on the Saudi stock market.
