On Nov. 25-27, Jeddah hosted the first annual Saudi CSR Summit. Speakers and participants from major Saudi companies, local representatives of global brands, and CSR leaders and experts were present at the summit to discuss some of the most important issues affecting the Saudi community. The issues included the pressing need for creating employment opportunities, empowering the next generation, expanding opportunities for SMEs, and developing communities and social leadership.
During the forum, SEDCO Holding showcased its CSR experience. Amr Banaja, VP marketing and communications at SEDCO Holding, expressed his delight for participating in this national event.
He explained that SEDCO has set the framework for CSR leadership, and social programs and initiatives. He said: “SEDCO is one of the thought leading companies in the field of CSR, for this purpose, we were invited to attend and discuss development, exchange best CSR practices for Saudi companies, and tackling challenges and overcoming them.
Banaja spoke during a panel discussion on CSR leadership, expanding CSR programs and identifying proper measures for the social return on investment. He said: “CSR is considered the foundation that SEDCO Holding strives to support through its various programs, which target the community, one of which is Riyali financial literacy program, in order to create a better society and a sound financial future for all sects of society namely kids and youth.”
The discussion brought together Dr. Waleed Fitaihi, chairman of the board of directors and CEO of the International Medical Center (IMC), and Noura Al-Turki, HR and CSR manager at Nesma Holding. They discussed the importance of honoring social projects and charitable work that support economic growth and promote social stability.
