Saud Salim Al-Mazrouei, director of Sharjah Airport International Free Zone (SAIF Zone) and Hamriyah Free Zone Authority (HFZA), led a high-level delegation to Tokyo to further explore the Japan market in order to utilize its potential for both sides.

The team actively participated in the recently concluded Nepcon Japan, which is Asia’s largest exhibition for electronics.

“The trade between the UAE and Japan has been prospering and the value of two-way trade between Japan and the UAE during the first six months of 2014 was $25.92 billion,” Al-Mazrouei said.

“Sharjah Airport International Free Zone has a keen interest in many firms in Japan and the show gathered a variety of exhibitors from automotive electronics and renewable energy. We met investors from different sectors and visited some well-known companies,” he said.

Nepcon Japan is rated as the best way to attract businesses from Japan, South Korea, China and Taiwan.

According to statistics, Japan’s exports to the UAE surged by nearly 13 percent to $ 4.59 billion, and imports by 2.76 percent to $ 21.34 billion during the first six months of 2014.

The UAE is Japan’s fifth largest export destination of passenger motor cars in the world, after the US and China.

Hamriyah Free Zone to further explore Russia, CIS countries market

Meanwhile, Saud Salim Al-Mazrouei noted that HFZA is going to explore Russia, CIS countries markets more by attending various meetings and trade shows during 2015.

“The demand from the institutional investors from CIS countries were huge in 2014 and over 112 companies from Russia and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries registered with HFZA, encouraging us to explore this market,” Al-Mazrouei added while commenting on the ‘Consumexpo ‘2015 that concluded at Expocenter Fairgrounds in Moscow on Thursday (Dec. 22).

“Our team successfully participated at “The international exhibition for consumer goods — Consumexpo’2015.

Currently, more than 365 companies from CIS countries operate from Hamriyah Free Zone.

In addition to Russia, investors from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Tajikistan, Armenia, Moldova also opened their firms in Hamriyah Free Zone in 2014.
