JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia’s benchmark Tadawul All-Share Index continued its downward fall, marking another decline of fifty five points or 0.58 percent to finish Monday’s trading at 9,532.48.

Med cap suffered worst of market cap indices, the GulfBase said in its market commentary.

Only Media and Agriculture witnessed a positive change among sectoral indices, advancing 1.23 percent and 0.05 percent respectively.

Remaining 13 sectors lost an aggregate of 646 points. Energy and Construction sectors showed the worst performance, declining over one percent for the day.

Most of heavyweights slipped from previous day’s level, with SABB dipping by 1.51 percent and Samba Financial Group 1.48 percent.

Petrochemicals giant Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC), the country’s biggest listed firm, fell 0.98 percent to SR102.01.

Market breadth with advance-decline ratio of 0.29:1 remained extremely weak.

Saudi Arabian Cooperative Insurance outdid rest of the Saudi stocks, soaring up 7.38 to reach at SR28.80. The company volume was 4.4 times high over its 50-day average.

Saudi Automotive Services Company climbed to a fresh five-year high of SR30.4, up 1.53 percent to finish at SR29.71.

New player Saudi Co. for Tools and Hardware, on the other hand, recorded the biggest losses, going down by 2.87 percent.

Market activity was 5-to-14 percent low when compared with previous level.

More than 128 million shares worth SR4.3 billion changed hands on the Saudi stock market.

The 50-day average for trading turnover is closer to 287 million shares worth SR8.0 billion.

Most of the trading was concentrated in Insurance sector, which liquidated 30.3 million shares, approximately one-fourth relative market share.
