The Saudi stock market depicted a positive drive on Monday, marking another solid gain of one percent.
Saudi Arabia’s benchmark stock index (TASI) added further 104.5 points to finish at 9,793.2 points. On an YTD basis, TASI registered a positive return of 14.73 percent.
All market cap indices ended in the safe area. Thirteen out of Tadawul's 15 sectors finished to the upside, accumulating 1,350 points.
Insurance outdid rest of the sectors, rising 2.25 percent to close at 1,661.53. Transport sector followed it, increasing by 1.97 percent. Banks & Financial Services sector added considerable 411 points, up 1.95 percent.
On the other hand, Telecommunication & Information Technology switched to worst performing sector of the day, going down by 1.97 percent.
Most of heavyweights extended gains, with Jabal Omar Development Co. growing by 4.37 percent, SABB 3.58 percent and Samba Financial Group 2.85 percent. The bellwether SABIC (Saudi Basic Industries Corp.) rose 0.93 percent to SR105.61.
Market breadth was strong, as rising stocks outnumbered decliners by a huge margin of five-to-one on the Tadawul. Share price of Bupa Arabia for Cooperative Insurance rallied to a growth of 9.92 percent, clinching the spot as top gainer amongst Saudi stocks. The company also hit an all-time high, closing at SR183.75.
Etihad Etisalat Co. (Mobily) continued its most active and most liquid status, liquidating 23.7 million shares worth SR1.4 billion. Mobily captured a market share 12.3 percent in terms of volume and 20.7 percent in terms of liquidity. Again company volume was 10 times high over its 50-day average.
Tadawul volume set sold approximately 192 million shares, a decrease of 9.5 percent as compared to previous level and thirty percent below the 50-day average of 272 million shares.
Liquidity also shrank to SR6.8 billion, 23.1 percent lower than the 50-day average level.
