On Tuesday, Saudi Arabia’s benchmark stock index (TASI) fell thirty points to finish at 10,163.66 after trading between 10,119.59 and 10,216.24. The index traded within a range of 97 points, trimming 0.30 percent for the entire day.

Among market cap indices only Micro cap was able to close a little higher (+0.76 percent). Most of the sector indices ended negatively, paring an aggregate of 875 points.

Energy & Utilities suffered worst of all sectors, showing a reduction of 1.33 percent to close the day at 6,416.99. Tourism and Cement sectors followed it, slipping 1.31 percent and 0.97 percent respectively.

On the positive side, Insurance with 2.4 percent upward jump remained prominent, closing at 1,684.26. Arabia Insurance Cooperative, Al-Ahlia Insurance and MedGulf Insurance topped the performance chart at Tadawul, soaring up 9.97 percent, 8.99 percent and 8.54 percent respectively.

Al-Ahlia Insurance positioned itself among the most active stocks, pouring 5.9 million shares. MedGulf shares raced to an all-time high of SR79 before closing at SR78.11.

Saudi Telecom Co. was a key player among heavyweight equities, hitting a new 5-year high and gaining 3.44 percent for the day. The company volume went 4.3 times high over its 50-day average, liquidating 3.4 million shares. Rest of the heavyweights finished to the downside, with Saudi Electricity dipping by 1.82 percent.

The total number of falling stocks exceeded to the total number of rising stocks by a small margin of 75 to 72. Dallah Healthcare Holding Company showed the worst performance, declining 5.61 percent to close at SR143.39.

Market activity was a little low for the day; specifically 213 million shares worth SR6.7 billion were liquidated at Tadawul. This turnover reflects a decrease of 25-30 percent over the 50-day average level.
