The Saudi stock market recorded mild losses (-0.5 percent) Monday, as investors cashed in on large-cap stocks.
Top ten large caps finished to the downside, with Saudi telecom dipping by 2.28 percent, Samba Financial Group 1.48 percent, SABB 1.23 percent and Mobily 1.17 percent.
However, Saudi Arabia’s benchmark stock index spending almost entire session in the downward territory finished 41.48 points lower to 8,346.69.
The market cap indices all witnessed a negative change, with Large cap falling 0.67 percent. Most of the sector indices ended negatively, paring an aggregate of 413 points.
Telecommunication & Information Technology suffered worst of all sectors, showing a reduction of 1.41 percent to close the day at 2,656.00. Cement was another significant declining sector, slipping more than one percent.
Only Transport, Tourism and Retail sectors moved upward slightly, showing a collection of 42.5 points.
The total number of falling stocks exceeded to the total number of rising stocks by a huge margin of 96 to 43.
Insurance stocks topped the performance chart at Tadawul, with Saudi Indian Co. for Cooperative Insurance surging by 4.8 percent and Alalamiya Cooperative Insurance 3.78 percent.
Tourism Enterprises Co. (Shams), on the other hand, posted the largest losses, going down by 5.6 percent to SR 80.25.
Mobile Telecommunications Company (Zain) with 17.6 million shares topped the volume chart, capturing 11.2 percent of the overall market volume.
Tadawul volume set sold approximately 156 million shares, a decrease of 7 percent as compared to previous level and 18.9 percent below the 50-day average of 192.7 million shares.
Liquidity also shrank to SR4.1 billion, 17.2 percent lower than the 50-day average level.
