Saudi Arabia’s benchmark stock index recorded mild losses (-0.38 percent) on Thursday, as investors cashed in on large-cap stocks.

Large Cap with 0.73 percent fall suffered worst of all market cap indices. The bellwether SABIC (Saudi Basic Industries Corp.) dipped by 2.54 percent, closing at SR 86.29.

However, the Tadawul index finished 33.96 points lower to 8,878.54, wavering in a range of hundred points roughly.

Sectoral indices performed in a mixed fashion, whereby eight sectors accumulating an aggregate of 632.7 points and seven sectors trimming 329.8 points collectively.

The losses made by the Telecom (-2.22 percent) and Petrochemical Industries (-1.4 percent) being offset by rise in Tourism (+1.87 percent) and Insurance (+1.27 percent).

The market breadth was positive, with 78 stocks witnessing advances and 70 others marking a decline.

Share price of Alalamiya Cooperative Insurance Co. rallied to a daily growth of 9.83 percent to SR 117.25, clinching the spot as top gainer amongst Saudi stocks. This is all time-high closing level of Alalamiya.

On the other side of the spectrum, Yanbu National Petrochemicals Co. became the biggest loser of the day, down 24.57 percent.

Trading activity was led by Dar Al-Arkan Real Estate, which represented 29.1 percent relative market share in terms of volume and 13.6 percent in terms of liquidity.

Its volume set sold 141.2 million shares, which are approximately one and half billion Riyals in value.

The company volume went 3.7 times high over its 50-day average.

Market volume went down by 9.8 percent and traded 485.6 million shares as compared to previous day’s 538.6 million shares. But still it was more than fifty percent greater than 50-day average of 320.7 million shares.

A considerable amount of liquidity SR10.9 billion flowed into the market, an increase of 30.9 percent over the 50-day average value.
