Saudi stocks hovered in small gains and losses Thursday, almost a repeat of previous day's flat performance, which turned slightly positive and the day ended in green.
The benchmark Tadawul All-Share Index (TASI) wavering along the break-even line within a low range of 37.4 points ended nearly 3.38 points higher to 8,017.77.
For the day, only Micro Cap indices went downward slightly. Seven out of Tadawul’s 15 sectors witnessed a positive change, accumulating an aggregate of 138.8 points. Rest of the sectors lost 338.2 points jointly.
Multi-Investment came out as key gainer among sectoral indices, which advanced 0.7 percent and closed the day at 3,763.49.
On the negative side, Hotel & Tourism suffered worst of all sectors, turning down 180 points or 1.15 percent for the day.
Heavy weights also closed in mixed fashion, where bellwether SABIC (Saudi Basic Industries Corp.) rose over half percent and Saudi Electricity Co. (SECO) fell 0.8 percent for the day.
Market breadth remained a little unfavorable, with 52 issues witnessing advances against 78 issues recording declines.
National Gypsum Company made the biggest jump among all Saudi equities, surging exactly seven percent to close at SR 32.1. Al-Ahsa Development Co. was another significant advancer, growing by 4.72 percent for the day. The company with trades over 6.2 million shares positioned itself among the most active stocks, closing the day at SR15.5 and ranking fourth.
Most of the trading was concentrated in Alinma Bank with 20.8 million shares, capturing 15 percent of market volume.
Tadawul volume set sold approximately 142 million shares, a decrease of 4.5 percent as compared to previous level and 35.9 percent below the 50-day average of 222.1 million shares.
Roughly SR4.0 billion was poured into the market.
