The Saudi stock market ended Thursday’s trading session solidly in the green.
The benchmark Tadawul All-Share Index (TASI) spending entire day in the green territory edged higher to 8,957.63, up nearly 156 points or 1.77 percent from previous level.
Large cap index advanced 1.8 percent for the day. Top ten large caps turned in a splendid performance, with Kingdom Holding rising by 8.12 percent and bellwether SABIC (Saudi Basic Industries Corp.) 3.7 percent. Interestingly, Kingdom volume was 523.6 percent greater as compared to previous day.
Sectoral indices all extended gains, reflecting an accumulation of 1,750 points. Multi-Investment and Industrial Investment sectors remained at top, each surging up by 3.95 percent. Telecom and Petrochemical Industries sectors followed it, posing over three percent positive change. There were 110 net advancing issues, a largely strong market breadth. Mobile Telecommunications Company (Zain) and Etihad Atheeb Telecommunication Company made the biggest jump among all Saudi equities, soaring up 9.55 percent and 9.26 percent respectively. But both companies are still trading below their par-value.
Zain with a volume of 39.6 million shares also topped the volume chart, a relative market share of 15.2 percent. Abdullah A. M. Al Khodari Sons Co. volume went four times high over its 50-day average, liquidating over nine million shares.
While, Malath Cooperative Insurance hitting a fresh five-year high of SR41.5 and pouring SR582.5 million into the market appeared to be the most liquid stock for the day.
Tadawul turnover set sold approximately 260 million shares worth SR7.3 billion, a decrease of 11-to-27 percent over the previous level. The 50-day average for trading turnover is closer to 233 million shares worth SR7.7 billion.
