Again Saudi stock market passed through a lean session on Tuesday, trimming more than two hundred points.
The Tadawul All-Share Index (TASI) dipping to a maximum of 306 points during the day, finally reduced by 1.94 percent to close at 10,177.11. Still its year-to-date return remained over nineteen percent.
All market cap indices finished to the downside, with Large cap slipping 2.14 percent. The bellwether SABIC (Saudi Basic Industries Corp.) tumbled 4.17 percent, closing at SR119.04. Saudi British Bank and SAFCO were other declining heavyweights, going down by 1.9 percent and 1.79 percent respectively.
Sectoral indices also ended in the downward territory, paring an aggregate of 1,937 points.
Petrochemical Industries and Agriculture sectors posted the largest losses, falling 3.47 percent and 2.74 percent respectively. Banks & Financial Services sector was another major decliner, reducing by 436 points or two percent roughly.
Market breadth was in favor of bears as out of 161 stocks only 24 were able to close higher. Allianz Saudi Fransi Cooperative Insurance showing excessive losses of SR3.84 or 6.20 percent became the major decliner at Tadawul.
On the other positive side, The Saudia Dairy (SADAFCO) and Arabia Insurance Cooperative Company topped the performance chart, soaring up 5.47 percent and 4.98 percent respectively. Fundamentally, a major portion of Arabia Insurance’s share capital has been absorbed in huge losses.
Tadawul volume set sold approximately 218 million shares, a decrease of 7.7 percent as compared to previous level and 22.2 percent below the 50-day average of 281.2 million shares.
Equity turnover reached to SR7.6 billion, a decrease of 20.7 percent from the 50-day average level.
Alinma Bank continued its most active status, liquidating 25.6 million shares and contributing 11.7 percent to the overall market volume. Bank AlJazira volume went 3.92 times high over its 50-day average, pouring 7.7 million shares.
