The Saudi stock market ended Sunday’s trading session solidly in the green.

Despite, a plunge of 35 points after the opening bell, the benchmark Tadawul All-Share Index (TASI) finished with an attractive gain of 1.46 percent or 148.6 points, closing at 10,313.96.

On an YTD basis, TASI again registered a positive return over 20 percent. Micro Cap with 2.2 percent upward jump remained prominent among the market cap indices.

Twelve out of Tadawul’s 15 sectors extended gains, reflecting an accumulation of 2,090 points. Insurance and Industrial Investment were best performing sectors of the day, appreciating by 4.19 percent and 3.4 percent respectively.

Only Transport, Tourism and Petrochemical Industries sectors could not manage for gains, trimming 420 points jointly.

SABB and Samba Financial Group outdid rest of the heavyweight peers, growing 2.59 percent and 2.28 percent respectively.

The market breadth was strong, with 139 stocks witnessing advances and 16 others marking a decline.

Saudi Indian Company for Co-operative Insurance (WAFA Insurance) and Arabia Insurance came out as key gainers among all Saudi stocks, marching higher by 9.82 percent, 9.74 percent respectively.

Trade Union Insurance was another significant gainer, moving up by 9.13 percent. The company volume increased 510 percent as compared to previous day, liquidating 2.4 million shares.

Share price of Med Gulf Insurance rose 6.82 percent for the session, touching an all-time high of SR70.

Market activity remained 6 to 7 percent greater than previous day but still it was 14 to 15 percent below the 50-day average level.

More than 239 million shares worth SR8.2 billion changed hands on the Saudi stock market. Trading activity was led by Alinma Bank, which liquidated roughly 27 million shares, a relative market share of 11.4 percent.
